Dr. No
This is the first Bond movie; as I’d never seen any before Goldeneye, it was mighty weird for me.

Bond is indelibly associated with Pierce Brosnan for me; it’s weird to see someone else in the role. I guess Connery was okay, but he’s really no Brosnan.

Also, Sean Connery is an old guy with a beard. This young, clean-shaven fellow is supposed to be him? Get out of here. Also, bizarre accent, as he tries to suppress his Sean Connery accent.

The thing that always throws me about old movies is, are they cliched, or are they inventing the cliche. Dr. No is clearly a rip-off of Austin Powers’ Dr. Evil, but it’s obvious which way that causal arrow points; less obvious is things like the hero choking a guard and then stealing his uniform. Cliched when this was made, or still vaguely novel and made into a cliche by it? Impossible to tell for me. Very bizarre.
