Sex and the City
So forever and a day ago, I watched this series on DVD. It was a simpler time.
And now they come out with a movie. The movie is wildly out of step with the times, but you forgive it that, because it’s SATC, and it’s doing what SATC does, which is not piggling around about recessions and how that cuts into your budget for $500 shoes.
You also forgive it the fact that the first thing it has to do is unwind the series’s happy endings, because you don’t have much of a movie otherwise. Beyond that, it’s reasonable enough. Most random episodes of SATC are better, because this isn’t the sort of show on which the weight of a feature film hangs naturally, or the sort of characters who want to be completely summed up and defined in a single show (even if that show is an epic 2.5 hours).
But it’s reasonable enough, and it’s hard not to approve of the ending, given circumstances.
