So the clever thing they did was to fuck the origin story, and tell it in the intro credits. Good on them. Origin stories are fun stories for almost all superheroes, but a) they already had an origin Hulk story (though they changed it here to be something more in line with the Ultimate universe than the classic one), and b) there are interesting non-origin stories to tell, too.

Other than that, the movie was blandly competent. I don’t know why it did badly and got bad reviews, as it was basically perfectly fine. There was nothing special about it, admittedly, but as action movies go, it was an above average competent one. And it does have Tony Stark appearing at the end, setting up the Avengers movie, which is nif.
