So all I knew about this movie was that a) it was one of those “regular dude becomes a superhero” movies, b) reviews were middling, but c) a friend said it was awesome.

Verdict: TOTES AWESOME. It is basically a mix of 1/3 gritty unflinching realism, 1/3 comic slapstick, and 1/3 over-the-top inspirational awesomeness. These are things that do not seem like they would mix well, and yet, here we are with the mixing.

About my only complaint is that the movie is misnamed, inasmuch as Hit Girl is both the in-plot-terms star of the show plus the in-viewer-terms star of the show. Recommended!
