So this is one of those movies that’s like a little character study. Depending on who you think the main character is, it’s either about a photographer who long ago decided to get away from stress and pressure and has been living in a languid, heroin-filled world ever since but is now being roused from her torpor by an energetic young editor, OR a story about an energetic young editor whose encounter with a languid heroin-snorting brilliant photographer introduces her into a world of drugs and lesbianism and will forever leave its mark on her young life.

In either case, you’re basically going to be watching a movie with a lot of people having slurred, heroin-addled conversations and lots of earnest talk about photography and it’s going to stand or fall for you based on how much you find yourself caring about the protagonists. For me, this falls into the category of movies that seem quite decent and which I respect, but which I don’t especially love madly.
