This was a very movie-centric weekend. We saw:

  1. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, which I expected to be super-super-lame, but was surprised to find out was only regular-lame. It’s essentially your standard romantic-comedy-with-an-implausible-twist. Am I the only person who thinks that Kate Hudson is funny-looking, though? Because, really, she is. She’s got that slightly-Vulcan look that Jenna Elfman has, and it bugs me.

  2. Y Tu Mamá También, which was very definitely not an American movie. Anne didn’t want to get it, because she thought it looked like porn; but I convinced her by pointing out that the director was also directing the next Harry Potter movie. And while I’m all-too-certain that a porn-themed Harry Potter movie would have its fans, well. Anyway, the movie does have moderately graphic sex scenes in it, but it’s definitely not porn — it’s just foreign. (And really, it may be somewhat more explicit than your standard R-rated teen movie, but it’s probably less salacious.) Also quite good, I think. Definitely worth seeing.

  3. Casablanca, which also falls victim to the whole overhyped-old-movie thing. Decent enough movie, I guess, if a bit overwrought, but super-duper-classic? Enh. Any random year probably sees 2-3 movies better than Casablanca. Definitely full of iconic moments, though.
