So for whatever reason, I always think that old Hollywood Epics are going to be very un-nuanced, black-and-white (in the moral, rather than photographic, sense) affairs. Very much not so in British Beatle-Mania, which traces the rise of Paul Muad’dib as he leads his Fremen desert warriors in battle. Or something like that.

Anyway, darker and more ambivalent than I’d expected, and very good all ‘round. Definitely one that people should see. Also, no matter how much Alec Guinness did an Arabic accent, the fact that he was wearing a flowing robe meant that I kept expecting him to pull out his light saber.
