Thor: The Dark World

Overall, I think this might be the most comicbooky of the Marvel Universe movies yet. From the way it had wild tonal shifts as it went to the ostentatiously complicated setting that made full use of Thor mythology and characters. They couldn’t have made this movie first, but now that they’ve built up to it, it’s pretty sweet that they can do this sort of thing.

It started out a bit slow, honestly, with lots and lots and lots of talky dialogue. But once it picked up, it kept going quite well, and it finished strong. I’m in for a third one!

I have not been a huge Hiddleston/Loki fan in the way that the whole internet seems to be — the character’s been fine, but I don’t get the obsession — but in this movie, totally charismatic and scenes with Loki were some of the best scenes of the movie.

There are two post-credit scenes, the first of which was another of those “OMG HOLY FUCK I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY PUT THIS CHARACTER IN A MOVIE”; and I think if I’d been paying attention to casting news for the Guardians movie, this wouldn’t be surprising, but wow all the same.
