In terms of plot, story, and character, this is your bog-standard Old-Fashioned Hollywood Adventure Movie, a la Indiana Jones or The Mummy or anything else that anyone describes as “harkening back to the old ’30s serials”. (Presumably, it’s also like the old ‘30s serials, but I never saw those, as I was busy in Nam in the ‘30s.)

In terms of style, though, it’s ultra-cool. Totally CG-rendered, obviously, but with this nifty Art Deco With Robots thing going on. Also, lots of exotic locations — Tibetan mountain fortresses, tropical jungles, underwater caves, flying air bases, underground lairs, the full works.

Upshot: Very pretty, with a pacey plot that keeps things going nicely, and acting that’s appropriately stiff. Well worth watching.
