Okay, so I totally thought I did this one already, but in retrospect, not so much. I was thinking of King Arthur. Easy mistake to make because:

  1. Both feature a protagonist who’s all incredibly ultra-modern in a historical time period. In this case, Legolas is fighting in the Crusades for religious toleration.

  2. Both feature one of the soldiers from HBO’s Rome. Here, it’s Vorenus, instead of Pullo.

  3. Both feature people with swords and big post-LOTR battles.

That said, KoH is way way way less sucky than Arthur. The plot is better and less cliched, the characters are drawn with a zillion times more subtlety (mostly), the production is artsier (I’m not sure why Ridley Scott has a rep as a hack when all his movies are stylistically interesting — seriously, how do you figure that Alien and Blade Runner are hackworks unless you just disparage all genre stuff?), and so forth.

Not highly recommended, but if you like sword movies, this one is better than most.
