So this is a horror movie about an alien brain creature thingy that takes over the inhabitants of a town. It’s a (very) thinly-veiled metaphor for Scientology, and in principle sounds like it could be interesting; but it’s hampered by the fact that it’s actually just not very good at all.

We watched this on Joe-Bob, but a notable thing is that we first saw it at an MST3K live show. And so okay, a lot of these movies tread the fine line between being right for Joe-Bob and right for MST3K, but in this case, I think this one is over the line, and genuinely belonged in MST3K territory. It’s just silly in a way that really demands that kind of riffing. Recommended for that purpose, but not taken alone.
