Blazing Saddles
This movie is a great sucking void of anti-humor. I sat there in somber silence as I watched its resolute unfunniness parade across the scene. You could tell there were supposed to be jokes there, because the movie was mugging for them, but it wasn’t clear why anyone would ever imagine that the jokes were actually funny, even in concept. There were maybe two legitimately humorous moments in the whole 90 minutes.
I sort of suspect that maybe they hadn’t invented humor back then? I mean, it’s plausible — people once upon a time thought Charlie Chaplin was hilarious, or Bob Hope, so maybe Mel Brooks is just one of those proto-comedians littering up the fossil record.
Anyway, avoid, avoid, avoid. Terrible movie and an utter waste of everyone’s time.
