Aeon Flux
This is the live action Charlize Theron movie, and it’s decent enough. Basically, it’s the poor man’s Dark City.
Really nifty visuals: Check. City in the middle of nowhere: Check. Things not what they initially seemed: Check. Malleable concept of identity, with dimly remembered pasts: Check.
But it is the poor man’s version, because the characterization here is thinner than a monkey’s ear, the world-building is much less plausible, the cinematically cool moments less cool, and the thematic elements actively annoying.
Dear writers: CLONES ARE NOT THE SAME PEOPLE AS THEIR GENETIC DONORS. CLONING YOURSELF EVERY TIME YOU’RE OLD IS NOT IMMORTALITY, AND LATER CLONES WILL NOT HAVE ANY MEMORIES OF THE ORIGINAL PERSON.
